Yes — you can use LivingLedger without an iPhone. There’s a native app on the Apple App Store, but it’s just one way in. Everyone else uses the LivingLedger web app, which runs in modern browsers, so an Android phone, a Windows PC, a Chromebook, or a Mac works just as well. You’re not locked out of an Apple-only product.

You don’t need an Apple device

LivingLedger is available as a native iOS app through the Apple App Store and as a web app in modern browsers, including iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and desktop Chrome and Edge. The web app is the full product, not a cut-down version — the same search, the same locations, the same inventory. So whether you carry an Android phone, work on a Windows laptop, use a Chromebook, or sit at a Mac, you can create a free account and start right away.

How to start without an iPhone

  1. Open inventory.livingledger.net in your browser (Chrome or Edge on Windows, Chrome on Android or a Chromebook, Safari or Chrome on a Mac).
  2. Create a free account and sign in.
  3. On a phone or Chromebook, open the browser menu and choose Add to Home screen so LivingLedger opens like an app.

What you can do

The web app does what LivingLedger is built for: add items manually, attach supported photos, tag where each item lives with locations up to three levels deep (like Garage › Shelf B), and then just search the item to see where it is — you search the item, not the box. You can also print your current view straight from the browser. LivingLedger works best with an internet connection so your inventory stays synced across devices.

Great for mixed-device households

Because your inventory lives with your account rather than a single device, a household that mixes Android phones, Windows or Mac computers, a Chromebook, and the occasional iPhone or iPad can all sign in and share the same inventory. Everyone sees the same things in the same places, synced while you’re online — no one is left out for using the “wrong” phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use LivingLedger without an iPhone?

Yes. You do not need an iPhone, or any Apple device, to use LivingLedger. Alongside the native iOS app, LivingLedger runs as a web app in modern browsers, so you can create an account and use your full inventory from an Android phone, a Windows PC, a Chromebook, or a Mac. The iPhone app is one way in, not the only way.

Do I need any Apple device at all?

No. The native app is on the Apple App Store for people who have an iPhone or iPad, but it is optional. Everyone else uses the web app in a browser, which is the full product, not a limited version. If your household has no Apple devices, LivingLedger still works for you.

Does LivingLedger work on a Windows PC or a Chromebook?

Yes. LivingLedger runs in modern desktop browsers, including Chrome and Edge on Windows, and in Chrome on a Chromebook. You open the web app, sign in, and use your inventory the same way you would on a phone.

Will LivingLedger sync across our different devices?

Yes. Your inventory is tied to your account, not to one device. Sign in with the same account on an Android phone, a Windows or Mac computer, a Chromebook, or an iPhone or iPad, and you will see the same inventory kept in sync across all of them while you are online.

Is there an Android app in the Google Play Store?

Not currently. On Android you use the LivingLedger web app in Chrome rather than a Play Store download, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. See the Android help page for step-by-step setup.
