Terms of Service

Effective date: May 25, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using LivingLedger, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree with any part of them, please don't use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use LivingLedger. If you're under the age of majority in your country, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.

2. Description of Service

LivingLedger is a household inventory app available on the web and as a native iOS app. It helps you keep track of the things you own. You can add items manually or use our AI-powered scanner to identify items from photos.

The web app runs in modern browsers on iOS, Android Chrome, and desktop browsers, and the native iOS app is available through the App Store. LivingLedger is independently operated.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account. Please use a strong password and let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

One account per person, please. The information you give us when signing up should be accurate and kept up to date.

4. Free and Pro Plans

The Free plan includes unlimited manual inventory items and 50 lifetime AI scan credits. AI scan credits do not refill on any schedule and are a one-time lifetime allowance per account. Each AI photo scan uses 1 credit. Paid plans unlock unlimited AI scanning for personal household use, subject to reasonable safeguards against commercial, automated, abusive, or unusually high-volume use. Prices, billing periods, and available plans may vary by platform and will be displayed before purchase.

We may change pricing in the future. If we do, existing subscribers will get at least 30 days' notice before the change applies to them.

Paid plans are intended for personal household use. We may contact users whose usage appears commercial, unusually high-volume, abusive, or inconsistent with normal household use, and may require a different plan.

5. Payments and Cancellation

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until canceled. You can cancel anytime through the platform where you subscribed, and you will keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Web subscriptions are billed through Stripe. iOS subscriptions use Apple In-App Purchase.

Web subscription payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processor. LivingLedger never sees or stores your full payment card details. Because the Free plan includes AI scan credits to try the service before upgrading, web subscription payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@livingledger.net.

iOS App Store purchases are handled through Apple's refund process.

6. Your Data

Your inventory data belongs to you. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. You can delete your account and associated data yourself from the Account page in the app. You may also email support@livingledger.net if you need help.

We use Firebase (a Google service) to store your data securely and to handle authentication. For more on how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.

7. AI Scanning

The AI scanner is powered by the Google Gemini API. It's a helpful tool, but it isn't perfect — results are suggestions, not guarantees, and may be incomplete or incorrect. Always review what the AI identifies before saving it to your inventory.

Each AI photo scan uses 1 credit, including scans that return incomplete or unexpected results. If you believe a scan failed due to a service issue on our end, contact support@livingledger.net and we'll review your usage and adjust your credit balance where appropriate.

When you scan a photo, the image is sent to Google Gemini for processing and is held only for the duration of the request, then discarded. LivingLedger does not store AI scan photos in its database or in Cloud Storage. The item details Gemini proposes are shown to you for review; only the details you choose to save are written to your inventory. Photos you separately attach to saved inventory items are stored with your account so you can view them later.

8. Acceptable Use

Please don't use LivingLedger for anything illegal, and don't try to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or otherwise abuse the service. Don't share your account or resell access to it.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these rules.

Enforcement access. We do not actively monitor inventory contents. However, to investigate suspected violations of these Terms, abuse, fraud, automated use, security threats, service misuse, or where required by law, we may access account data, including inventory contents, saved item photos, and usage records. We use this access only when reasonably necessary and limit it to what is needed for the investigation, support request, security review, legal compliance, or service operation. We do not use data accessed this way for advertising, marketing, or AI model training.

We may limit or restrict access to certain features (including AI scanning) if we detect excessive, automated, commercial, or abusive usage.

9. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to LivingLedger at any time if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that could cause harm.

You can stop using the service at any time. You can delete your account self-serve from the Account page in the app.

10. Availability and Changes

We work hard to keep LivingLedger available and reliable, but we can't promise 100% uptime. We may also add, change, or discontinue features over time. When we make significant changes, we'll do our best to give reasonable notice.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.

11. Limitation of Liability

LivingLedger is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. We aren't liable for lost data, indirect damages, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you have that cannot be waived under your local law.

13. Contact

If anything in these Terms is unclear, or you have a question, concern, or complaint, please contact us.
