The honest answer: not yet. LivingLedger is currently single-user — an inventory belongs to one account. Shared household inventories are planned, but they aren’t available today, and we’d rather say that plainly than have you find out after signing up.

What “single-user” means in practice

Your inventory belongs to your LivingLedger account. There are no separate accounts for other family members. If your spouse, kids, or housemates want their own sign-in with access to the same inventory, that isn’t something LivingLedger supports right now.

What works today: one account, all your devices

Your inventory is tied to your LivingLedger account, not to one device. Sign in with the same account on another supported phone or computer — the iOS app on an iPhone, or the web app in a browser on Android, Windows, Chromebook, or Mac — and you’ll see the same inventory. Changes sync while you are online. So the person who keeps the inventory isn’t chained to a single phone.

To be clear, that’s one person across their own devices — our Terms ask you not to share an account between people, which is exactly why real household sharing is on the roadmap rather than a workaround we’d suggest here.

Why this question comes up so often

In most households, one person is the human search engine — the one everyone asks before looking anywhere. We wrote about that pattern in The One Person Who Knows Where Everything Is. A searchable home inventory changes the shape of the problem: “where is it?” becomes a quick search instead of a memory test. Today in LivingLedger that search belongs to one account; letting the rest of the household search it too is exactly what shared inventories are planned to solve.

Where the roadmap stands

Shared household inventories are planned but are not available yet, and we haven’t announced a release date. We won’t promise specifics here that the product doesn’t ship — when sharing arrives, this page will say so.

Frequently asked questions

Can my family share a home inventory in LivingLedger?

Not yet. LivingLedger is currently single-user, so an inventory belongs to one account, and there are no separate accounts for family members. Shared household inventories are planned but are not available yet.

Can I use my inventory on more than one device?

Yes. Your inventory is tied to your LivingLedger account, not to one device. Sign in with the same account on another supported phone or computer to access the same inventory. Changes sync while you are online.

Are shared household inventories coming?

They are planned. Shared household inventories are on the roadmap, but they are not available yet and no release date has been announced. Until then, LivingLedger remains single-user.

How can a household benefit before sharing arrives?

One person keeps the inventory today, and the household still benefits: when someone asks where something is, the answer is a quick search instead of a memory test. The inventory can be updated and searched from any device signed in to that account, and shared access for other household members is planned.
